The Myth of Wait Times

How to win on Medicare for All

The Myth of Wait Times

Medicare for All opponents want everyone to believe that, in places like Canada, people die or live in severe pain while they’re waiting for care.

    • It’s important to know that there is no valid research indicating Canadians are waiting for necessary procedures
      • In fact, the evidence says that when Canadians have serious medical problems, illnesses, injuries, or other urgent care needs, they are able to see a doctor right away.
      • It is true that sometimes, for non-urgent care, there can be a short wait time.
On the other hand:
      • There is a relatively high rate of Americans who are foregoing medical care or prescriptions due to cost.
      • Forgoing treatment all together can end up making non-urgent medical issues significantly  worse.
